REVIEW: Charming Charlie

Lately, my rash for jewelry has begun itching again. I took a trip after my lunch date with Edgar to Charming Charlie and grabbed a few items. I’m very fond of CC as they sponsored my degree program’s first annual Fashion Merchandising Career Forum in 2010 and also the TxSCC I went to back in March of this year. Heck, I even had my professor drive us to a Charming Charlie via GPS during a Dallas fashion industry tour in 2010 as well.

My style of jewelry? Uncommon, conversation-starters that complement my outfits and personality. I’m partial more to some brands of jewelry such as James Avery, Tarina Tarantino, Dogeared, and the occasional statement piece from Anthropologie.

But, Charming Charlie  has a different kind of flair. Each store is broken up into colorized merchandise. That’s right, your purples, pinks, blues, browns, creams, etc. – each have their own wall/island of that color family ready for your viewing pleasure! I love it. It makes me feel at ease when I’m looking for a certain accessory.

I wasn’t looking for anything particular. Just whatever caught my eye.

 Wooden ring – $7.97
Leather Flower ring – $14.97
Tape measure (um, leopard, hi!) – $4.97
Fish necklace – $12.97

What’s awesome about Charming Charlie is the prices are reasonable, items are very trendy and can be timeless pieces, and they have a loyalty program! So with every purchase, you can get a small discount if you join their loyalty program.

27 states currently have at least ONE store! Check out their locations to see if one is in your neighborhood, city, or on the blueprint map!

It’s a go from here.

Cardigan – Bp.
Dress – IheartRonson
Shoes – Michael Kors
Bracelet/Necklace – Tarina Tarantino

Vacations should be mandated by law. As in, every hard-working person deserves one! I’m still swimming in moving boxes, 4 newly-ripped-open-by-shredding-it garbage bag of clothes, 3 boxes of shoes, belts, and scarves. My closet (and apartment!) is anything but organized.

Can you believe it’s almost June? 2011 is nearly halfway over!

I said it ’cause I can.

I saw Bruno Mars in concert with Sarah from Every Day Is A Runway , and wow. I may just be a little mesmerized. It’s not often that a singer’s voice in person sounds as soulful, clear, and energetic as it does on the radio. His voice was just that. Janelle Monae and Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy) were interesting – both were very good performers.

Houston, we have a problem.

Okay, so really – no problem! I made it to Houston in one piece. There were a few endeavors I encountered but, what’s moving called without stress? I don’t know the word. And oh yes, and this is the first entry since being in Houston. My life finally makes sense now that I have cable and internet.

Friday, Edgar and his mom came down so we could float the river before I left. I needed one last float before I went anywhere. Sunblock, tubes, sandals – yeah, we were ready. As we got onto the Comal River, we lost track of his mom and decided to float/kick/wait on the side. I’m holding onto rocks and he’s holding onto a branch. Five minutes later, he swelled up like a balloon! That cut my river trip short since we had to go to an emergency clinic!

Saturday, my moving truck from X-named-company was “guaranteed” to be available at 9 a.m. Um, wrong! It wasn’t available at all. I had reserved a 16-foot truck and the contractor only had *ONE* 29 foot truck and the “trucks were on their way.” Okay, sure. 10 a.m, 11 a.m, 12 p.m, 1 p.m…NO TRUCK! I was having aneurysms, heart attacks, ticks, anxiety attacks. I was a mess. I finally gave up, took that truck because I needed to G-O. I finally made it to Houston around 7:15 p.m. and being up since 6:30 a.m. I hate moving.

My deflated welcome balloons, snacks and cupcakes/welcome note from my sweet momma & stepdad.
